Greetings;

I hope you all are looking forward to Thanksgiving break next week and will return ready to think about our contests.  I wanted to get this information out to you as soon as possible.  Below are the dates and locations for the two contests:

bulletSolo & Ensemble Contest – 2/20/10 at West Carroll Intermediate School , 

           Thompson , IL – Mark Bressler, Host                                                                         

bulletOrganization Contest – 3/20/10 at Galena Middle School – Steve Holland, Host

SOLO & ENSEMBLE CONTEST INFORMATION

The deadline for submitting Solo & Ensemble entries will be Friday January 15, 2010 .  All forms will be submitted electronically this year.  All entries must be received by this date.

Entries should be sent electronically to Mark Bressler at the following address: mark_bressler@yahoo.com

A copy of the Fee Sheet and a check payable to IGSMA Dist. IV should be mailed to:

 Solo and Ensemble Entry fees are:

             Solos - $6.40

            Ensembles - $10.00 plus $1.40 for each participant

            Piano Rental Fee - $50.00 per school

When filling out your registration forms, all boxes need to be completed.  It is vital we have all the information for the students including piano accompanist to ensure accurate scheduling. Please do not fill in TBA.  Incomplete forms will be returned.

All forms are in the Excel format. 

For the Fee Sheet, click on the appropriate box and fill in.  For the Solo Entry Form and the Ensemble Entry Form be sure to fill out the school information in the Header box.  To do this, open the document, click on View, click on Header and Footer.  Then click on Custom Header and type in your school name and Director’s name.  Make sure to save your document before sending it just in case.

Be sure to review our CONSTITUTION & BYLAWS for rules governing our contest.  If you do not have a copy you can access it on the web at www.igsma.org. Remember to click on Northern Division when arriving.  The percussion requirements are also there.

NOTE:  Please review our District IV scale policy.  We do have required scales for instrumental, string and piano soloist.  Please check the link on the Solo & Ensemble page of the IGSMA website.

ORGANIZATION CONTEST INFORMATION

The Organization Contest Entry Form may be access on the website.  This should be submitted to the chair by February 1, 2010.  Please also send a Fee Sheet if you did not include it with your Solo & Ensemble entry fees.  The forms and fees should be mailed to:

Cost for Organization Contest is $2.75 per student.   Checks should be payable to IGSMA Dist. IV.

All Organization Contest entries are due by February 1, 2010 .

Again, don’t forget to refer to the CONSTITUTION & BY-LAWS for rules governing the event.
